The Advanced Buteyko Institute, trading as Reuvers Breathing, operates the https://www.reuversbreathing.com website, and the Reuvers Breathing apps and training programs, courses and events, which provide the SERVICE. The Advanced Buteyko Institute is the controller of your personal data.

If you choose to use our Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation with this policy. The Personal Information that we collect are used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

This page is used to inform website visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use our Service, the website and Reuvers Breathing apps.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, sign up for courses, make donations, or contact us. This may include:

  • Name, email address, and contact information
  • Payment information (processed securely through third-party providers)
  • Course participation and progress data
  • Breathing exercise data, health metrics, and notes you write (in our apps)
  • Messages you send to an instructor through our contact form
  • Information about your device in our apps: the device model and operating system, the app version, and a random ID the app gives your device
  • Communication preferences and feedback
  • Which version of our Terms and this Privacy Policy you agreed to, and when

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our services
  • Process payments and donations
  • Send you course materials and updates
  • Provide customer support
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve our services
  • Comply with legal obligations

Information Sharing

We never sell or trade your personal data. We do not share your personal information with third parties except in the following limited circumstances:

  • With your explicit consent
  • To trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our services:
    • a sign-in service, which stores your name, your email address, and a protected form of your password that no one can read
    • a crash reporting service, which receives crash and performance reports from the app, linked to your account's ID number but not to your name or email address
    • a payment processor, which handles your payments
    • email delivery services, which send our account emails and our newsletter
    • an app update service, which delivers app updates and receives your app version and type of phone
    • a network and security service, which delivers the website and protects our forms from spam bots
    • a hosting provider, which stores the website and your account data
  • To comply with legal requirements or protect our rights
  • In connection with a business transfer or merger

Some of these providers process data outside the EU and the UK, mainly in the United States. We protect those transfers with the safeguards EU and UK law require, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Ask us for details.

Health Data

If you choose to turn it on, the Reuvers Breathing app reads health data from Apple Health on iOS and Health Connect on Android. This is off until you enable it, and the app only ever reads. It never writes anything back to Apple Health or Health Connect.

What we read: heart rate and heart rate variability, resting heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygen, sleep duration and sleep stages, VO₂ max, body weight, active energy, and step count.

We do not store the raw readings. The app calculates daily summaries, for example your average morning heart rate variability or last night's sleep duration, and stores those on your device and in your account on our server. They are shown back to you in the app and on this website. We never use this data for advertising, and we never sell or trade it.

Sharing with your instructor. Your health summaries are private to you by default. If you want your instructor to see them, you can turn that on in your account settings on this website. Turning it on makes them visible to your instructor and to the instructors who supervise them. You can turn it off again at any time, and access stops immediately.

To stop collection entirely, revoke the app's permission in Apple Health or Health Connect. On iPhone, open the Health app, tap your profile picture, then Apps, then Reuvers Breath, and turn off all access. On Android 14 and later, open your phone's settings and find Health Connect. On many phones it is under Security and privacy, then Privacy. Choose App permissions, then Reuvers Breath, and turn off all access. On older Android versions, open the Health Connect app and choose App permissions. This stops the app from reading new data. The summaries already stored stay in your account. Contact us if you want those summaries deleted.

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and your browser's storage to keep you logged in and to make pages load faster. They also store your language, your currency, which trademark symbol applies in your country, and which pop-ups you have closed, so the same pop-up does not appear again. When you sign up for a course, the details you enter, such as your name, email address, and phone number, are kept in a cookie for one day, so you do not have to type them again on the next page. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences.

Your Rights

Your privacy rights depend on your location. In general, you may have the right to:

  • Access and update your personal information
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal requirements)
  • Opt out of marketing communications
  • Request a copy of your data
  • Withdraw consent where applicable

EU/UK Residents (GDPR): You have additional rights including data portability, the right to be forgotten, and the right to object to processing.

California Residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information is collected and how it's used, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information.

To exercise your rights, please contact us using the information provided below. We will respond to your request within the timeframe required by applicable law.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account data, practice sessions, notes, measurements and health summaries for as long as your account exists, so your history stays available to you. When you delete your account, we delete this data as described below.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself. In the app, open the account screen and tap Delete account, below Logout. On the website, go to My Account in the member area and choose Delete account at the bottom of the page. You can also email us at [email protected] and we delete it for you.

This removes your account, your practice sessions, your notes and your measurements, including any stored health summaries, from your phone and from our server. We also remove your email address from our newsletter. An active Foundation Plus or Summit Plus subscription is cancelled at once, and refunds follow our terms. Deletion cannot be undone, and you receive a confirmation email when it is complete.

We keep payment records for our bookkeeping, no longer linked to your account. Messages you sent to an instructor through the contact form stay with that instructor, also no longer linked to your account.

Instructor accounts are deleted on request: please email [email protected].

Deleting some of your data

You can delete some of your data and keep your account. In the app, open History and delete any practice session or note you no longer want. You can also delete practice sessions in the member area on the website. A deleted session or note disappears from the app and the website and is deleted from our server. To delete your health summaries, email [email protected] from the address you use for your account and tell us which data you want deleted. Deletion cannot be undone.

Children's Privacy

Our services are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. When this Privacy Policy or our Terms change, the app and the member area ask you to agree to the new version.
